Let the mantra guide you, clear your mind, focus your attention & open your heart.

The mantra is an object of focus, as is the breath, and it can be used as a tool for cultivating deeper concentration (the first stage that leads into the cultivation of heightened awareness). The repetition of mantra, as in the well known Transcendental Meditation (TM) might be adopted as a primary practice or as a preliminary practice to deeper stages of a meditation and yoga practice. Dr.Dharma Singh Khalsa wrote a wonderful chapter in his book Meditation As Medicine, on the science of wellbeing behind the repetition of a mantra in a daily practice, which I highly recommend reading. Here are some which he presents for daily practice as part of Kundalini Yoga meditations, that I also sometimes draw upon.
